The volunteers running the much-loved Baby Bank announced it would have to close. We stepped in to find storage, volunteers and funding to keep it open — now relaunched as the BairnsBank.
The Buckie Community Baby Bank has supported local families for years with essential baby items at no cost. When the volunteers running it announced they could no longer continue, closure looked certain.
The community council agreed unanimously to try to save the service. This project tracked our work to find new premises, recruit volunteers and secure ongoing funding.
The service has officially relaunched as the Buckie & District BairnsBank. Donations are being accepted again and families can get in touch through the website or Facebook page. Thank you to everyone who helped save this vital service.
Four new volunteers have come forward and we have agreed terms for a permanent space. A small grant application has been submitted to cover initial running costs.
A local business has generously offered temporary storage for the Baby Bank's stock while we work on a permanent solution. Donations are safe and the service can continue operating in a limited way.
